Now that an initiative to legalize and tax marijuana has been certified for the state's Nov. 2 ballot, the debate has begun about what a yes vote by California voters would mean, aside from $1 billion in new tax revenue.

How about $100 Billion or so in new injury/death claims and assorted liability losses from people stoned out of their gourds while working. That should easily offset any income from taxes.

Maybe if they opened the existing oil well pumps offshore they could gain an estimated $50B per year in revenue. Who needs oil when you can get stoned instead?

California has enormous problems, the least of which is deciding on how they should get high. What a profound example of the dearth of common sense and responsibility.

Ya know, if this passes, California may yet fall into the Pacific just from the sheer mass of people who move there.
