NFPA 70

Does anyone know where I can find information about transformers, and electromagnetic disorders?Remember the big to do years back about kids living under power lines and so fourth? Well; there was just a tranformer installed in front of our offices and some employees have ideas about it being harmful. I assured them that the tranformer is insulated and not the same thing at all as the uninsulated high voltage lines. Can anyone offer up some fact and lniks?See More

James,
I hope the photos made a point. It is very sad for anybody to end up like that. You questioned if you ever saved a life. That is a fair question, but look at this way, have you ever dealt with a fatality that you KNOW you could have prevented? That would be hard to live with.
Being a safety professional is like being a livestock guard dog. You never really know what COULD have happened, until you don't have one watching over the herd.
Good Luck and keep in touch

Graphic footage of this nature won't be found in the public domain. I'm currently working on adding a private area on my TV site where this very effect kind of communication can happen, under supervision.

Welcome to the community by the way. Ideas are always moving here, we hope you like it. If you have some time this weekend drop by ContractorSafety.TV and help us reveiw some videos or just drop me a line here.

HiVoltageShock.ppsJames,
I will attempt to attach a power point presentation on an actual electrical fatality. BEWARE there are some very graphic pictures. I showed them to our excavation division during a monthly safety meeting. It definately got their attention.
If this does not work or you are unable to open, e-mail me directly at- safety@pioneersand.com
Either way, let me know what you think and how it goes.
Regards,
Chris

Hi James! Welcome. I haven't seen the Charlie Morecraft video yet, but I'm familiar with the story. I hope to someday hear him in person!

ICE your Phone - In Case of Emergency

ICE - In Case of EmergencyProgramming of Emergency Contact Numbers in your PLATEAU Cell PhonesICE – In Case of Emergency - programming of your cell phones with ICE is a concept that was developed by a paramedic in England. It was realized that most of his victims did not carry emergency contact information but did carry cell phones.
