Online Safety Community

I'm working on something and could use your input. Do you have other safety sites, blogs or resources you visit on the Web? Besides SafetyCommunity.com, what are your other go-to sites for safety info, networking and knowledge?

Thanks in advance!

I'm a little biased b/c we develop a online safety resource software and I usually just use our product. But when I am looking for something we don't have in our software, I stick primarily to government resources. Obviously OSHA is a resource, but their website can be difficult to use. Some others that are good include:

UK Health & Safety Executive (HSE) - www.hse.gov.uk/
Canada's Center for Occupational Safety & Health - http://www.ccohs.ca/
Center for Disease Control - www.cdc.gov
NIOSH - http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/

Canada's agency does a better job of organizing content then OSHA thats for sure. I try to stick to the government agencies because their content is free, public domain, and not copyright in any way, which means you can print it out, put your company logo on it and not be worried about copyright infringement. Well, that and I like to feel my hard earned tax dollars are going to something worthwhile and I can receive value in return.

Also take a look at your State Labor Department website, likely localized content will be more applicable to your needs/wants when it comes to safety and health information.
Great additions, thanks much!
You mean besides here?

I belong to Keller OnLine (http://www.kelleronline.com). Between the discussion group, and the personal assistant section, there hasn't been an answer I can't find. It has been well worth the price.

Other newsgroups (some I read, some I participate):
Safety List at UMV - http://list.uvm.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=SAFETY
LinkedIn (I belong to close to 50 safety related groups here) - http://www.LinkedIn.com
Ergoweb - http://www.ergoweb.com/forum/
EHS Elite (an international Safety group on Google) - http://groups.google.com/group/ehs-elite

Here is a list of some of the print sources I use (all free):

Industrial Safety and Hygiene News (ISHN) - http://www.ishn.com ,
Occupational Safety & Heath (OS&H) - http://www.ohsonline.com ,
Facility Safety Management - http://www.fsmmag.com ,
Safety + Health - http://www.nsc.org
EHS Today - http://www.EHSToday.com
Incident Prevention (IP) - http://www.incident-prevention.com
Security - http://www.securitymagazine.com

Some other links I regularly use:

OSHA - http://www.osha.gov
NIOSH - http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/
Bureau of Labor Statistics - http://www.bls.gov/iif/
Electronic Library of Construction Occupational Safety and Health (eLCOSH) - www.elcosh.org/
Liberty Mutual - http://www.libertymutualgroup.com/

There are many more as I wander around the internet. (Google Rules!)
For additional links, follow my blog - http://www.safetyphoenix.blogspot.com.
Most of the posts are link intensive.

Do those help?

Pam, this is fantastic. Thanks so much for sharing these here!
Sorry to be so later in answering this query, Lara. I visit more than I can list here, but I'll list some of my favorites.

The Pump Handle's a great blog. I check the AFL-CIO's blog by Mike Hall and others frequently, along with OSHA Underground and OSHA Aboveground.

OSHA, NIOSH, CDC, WHO, Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, CSB, DOL, all DOT agencies, Britain's Health and Safety Executive, Health Canada, ASSE, NSC, AIHA, ACGIH, several states' OSH agencies and departments of labor (notably the Oregon, Washington, California, Minnesota, and Michigan agencies), the NYC Department of Buildings, NFPA, US Fire Administration, FEMA, www.truckline.com, www.aar.org, National Mining Association, National Association of Manufacturers, OSHRC, FMSHRC, and federal circuit courts of appeals are all sites that I check regularly. I visit the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society's site often and numerous companies' sites, as well.

I'm interested in safety and health journals and frequently visit sites where their current tables of contents and abstracts of articles are availble.

My Personal Safety Quotes that I use in conferences and management training programs

Over the years I have come up with several of my own safety and leadership quotations that I have used in either in conferences, meetings or training sessions.  Sometimes you can say just a few words and the message sticks with people for the rest of their lives.   I have put below a few of my favourites that I have had success with when trying to make people accept their responsibilities and actual become actual leaders. …See More
