We've had a state certified safety committee for over 10 years and received a notice that we are going to be audited. Justed wanted to know if anyone else in PA has had an audit and what I should expect.

Had the audit today and it went well. To close the loop on this post the details. The auditor is pretty much tied to a script. He goes back 3 years on meeting minutes and the required annual training. Use to be you were either in compliance or not. Meaning if you missed one meeting in 3 years, you weren't in compliance with the program and had to reapply. Now they have a third option which is "mostly in compliance". Due to one paperwork item we expect to be in that group but we won't receive the final report for another 3 or 4 months. Yes, that's right. We were told by the auditor that it will take 3 or 4 months until we hear back from them. Time to get back to the real business of safety.
Ray: could you elaborate on a state certified safety committee. Is it a state agency that does the certification of the committee and if so, which agency? What is the critieria for certification?
It's run by the Department of Labor and Industry. The benefit of having a certified safety committee is a 5% discount on your workers compensation insurance. Here's a link to the information.
