Online Safety Community

I am seeing more and more health and safety professionals on Twitter sharing information, articles and links about workplace safety. In fact, you can now follow Ansell (creator of this fine social network) on Twitter at @AnsellSafety, @AnsellConstruct and @SafetyCommunity.

If you're on Facebook, you can also become a fan of Ansell Safety, Ansell Constructionand Ansell Online Safety Community!

If you're on Twitter, what's your @ so we can all follow you? I'm @LaraK but my content there is not usually safety related - it's more likely to be about PR and social media.

Hi Lara,
We have joined Twitter! @DoorJak - we found you...but Twitter was having one of its "moments," if you know what I mean, and we couldn't follow you for some reason. Will keep trying!

Yep, Twitter can be used for EHS purposes. For example, in an article by Booz, Allen and Hamilton they discuss the role of social media in crisis communication. At Affygility Solutions, we use twitter quite a bit to communicate important issues. The fact that most cell phones easily accept twitter feeds is important. We are trying to figure out how to use twitter for issues such as potent compound safety, industrial hygiene, containment validation, and the like.

I disagree. Based on what I've seen so far, people who tweet are more interested in bolstering their own ego than providing anything of substance. The economy sucks, millions are losing their jobs and posting on twitter is supposed to help? I don't think so. This may well be a great way for Ansell to promote its image (?) but let's not forget they are only interested in their own image.

I think Ansell is doing more than padding their own image. This site is proof of that. They allow and facilitate discussion on many different avenues that they have no business "interest" in. If they only allowed discussion to take place on hand protection , I would agree, but thankfully they do not.

I agree, they are padding their image. Why else do you think are they doing this?

Jack, I am sorry to hear that you feel so negatively about this site's creator and sponsor. If you are only here to disparage Ansell, however, you may wish to find a different community in which to network and share knowledge. That is simply not appreciated here and it is CERTAINLY not true, as Jason made clear.

You agree with what? I said they are doing MORE than padding thier own image. If you are think they have ulterior motives, then why are you here?
