Anyone out there used an online first aid/cpr training class. I've seen a few online but not sure if any of them actually offer a certification card that is equivalent to the Red Cross or American Heart Association certification because both of them still require a hands on skill training along with their online "classroom" portion.

We've used this CPR DVD. This is the preview of it on YouTube. It's very accurate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5r7haVfZXek

I doubt that any provider is going to issue a card without delivering the training in person. A card certifies that what was taught was understood and with online training that can be hard to do. Unless they send a dummy over that hooks up to your computer and reads depth of compression and speed, I would stick with the Red Cross or your local ambulance service.
The reason that you won't find an online training certification for 1st Aid/Cpr is that the AMA is never going to back a program lacking in a personal verification that the individual can actually apply the knowledge correctly. I wholeheartedly agree with that stance as a former Red Cross instructor. I once had a trainee that borderline passed the classroom information and totally botched the application even with 3 retraining attempts. It was only one individual in 5 years of training but would you be willing to take the chance on it being that one person pumping on your chest like a bull elephant in musth?
Here are some companies that offer online CPR and First Aid certification online: www.cprtoday.com, www.firstaidweb.com, www.procpr.org, www.cpraedcourse.com, and a few others. Just do an internet search for online CPR and you will find them all. They all offer a certificate card upon the completion of the course. However, OSHA requires any work-related training to be conducted with hands-on training and the American Red Cross, The American Heart Association, and Medic First Aid all require students to demonstrate hands-on skills in order to receive a certification card. Sure, you can complete an online CPR and First Aid course and pay for the certification cards, but it will not be valid in your place of work.

There are risks involved in certain jobs or workings but for the fear of being hurt or any threat to life, we, cannot stop working. To avoid this we must wear safety suits or make use of safety…See More
